This week Carriacou Animal Hospital welcomes Dr Louise Soutar , a veterinary surgeon, from Scotland. Thank you for the donation of supplies and your veterinary expertise.
Louise graduated from Edinburgh Vet School in 2015.
She has a Labrador called Jude and has worked in Otley, Yorkshire for the last 2 years. Louise was brought up on an Aberdeen Angus beef farm.
Today Carriacou Animal Hospital welcomes veterinary surgeon Dr Emma Faulkner and her Sista Sarah. They have been volunteering at CAH since 2013. Emma works in Nottinghamshire, UK in mixed practice. She graduated with a Bachelor in Veterinary Medicine degree from the Royal Veterinary College in 1991 and has been a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons since. She has a further qualification in Veterinary Acupuncture. She tirelessly fundraises in the UK and provides us with a lot of our medicines. She is also on the board of directors. Two years ago she was the first vet ( and female) to attempt to run the greasy pole during regatta week.
Sarah has been a primary school teacher in the UK since 1997. She graduated in 1996 with Bachelor of Education from Bangor University. She helps with nursing and caring for patients, general chores around the clinic and writes most of our charity grant applications.
Sarah and Emma are on the island until September.
Two weeks ago, CAH was happy to welcome veterinary nurse Nadia Lillecrapp from Hervey Bay, Australia. Nadia earned her Bachelor degree with Honours in microbiology and immunology at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, in 2013, before her path led her to animal care and veterinary nursing. In 2016 she acquired her most recent certificate in Animal Studies at the Australian College of Veterinary Nursing. She is traveling around the world working and volunteering in different places, such as in an animal shelter in India. Just at the beginning of this year she was in Koh Rong in Cambodia and ran a puppy clinic teaching the locals basic health care. Next she is off to Costa Rica to work in a wildlife refuge centre!
We thank Nadia for the donated supplies and her amazing support at the clinic and are delighted that she is with us for another two weeks!
CAH welcomes veterinary surgeon Dr. Rachael Howes! Rachael graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2014 and is a registered member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS) in the UK. The last 3 years, she spent as a veterinary associate in a busy mixed practice. Her focus is on small animal and equine work, but she also has substantial experiences in farm animal work…and she has experience in capturing, sedating and examining lions!
We are happy to have her here for the next 4 weeks and thank her very much the donated supplies as well as her donating her time and skills to CAH.
Good morning everyone and happy Old Year's Eve! If you are looking for some last-minute charitable giving for the year, CAH needs assistance in upgrading our volunteers accommodations! Donations can be made through the GoGetFunding page, directly on our Facebook page ("Donate" button), or in the most direct way by contacting the director Kathy (firstname.lastname@example.org)! Any donation is greatly appreciated! Please, spread the word and share!
CAH was pleased to have Dr. Louise Shaw, a volunteer veterinarian provided through the WVS from September 7th to October 16th, 2015. Dr. Shaw ran an event at home, back in July, to raise funds for WVS so they were able to provide CAH with much needed supplies. CAH and the animals of Carriacou would like to thank Dr. Louise and everyone at WVS for their generosity!
Dr. Airán Santana joined the CAH team last week and we are most thankful for his donated supplies! He'll be with us for 6 weeks!
Carriacou Animal Hospital welcomes the vets Nicole Mant and Nicole Hashash from the UK! We are most thankful for their support and the supplies they brought! We'd also shout out many thanks to Park Hall Veterinary Clinic and Gibson & Jones Veterinary Surgeons for their donation of supplies.
They physically transferred the $1'300 USD, too, which were raised at the fund raiser on April 23rd, 2016 by their colleague and our board member, Dr. Emma Faulkner, and the Friends of Carriacou Animal Hospital foundation!
We decided to do a little make-over on our website. This is how it turned out! We hope you'll enjoy!
